Geophysics read with a geologist's eye
Northern Geoscience is an independent geophysical interpretation consultancy. We are small on purpose: the person who scopes your project is the person who does the work.
Robert Charnock
Burlington, Vermont
Robert is an exploration geophysicist and economic geologist. He has spent more than ten years turning airborne geophysical data into geological maps and prioritized exploration targets that teams can act on.
From 2015 to 2020 he worked at Condor Consulting, Inc. in Lakewood, Colorado, as a GIS Specialist and Geologist, bringing together GIS datasets, interpreting geological and geophysical data and building interpretation products for airborne surveys around the world.
In 2020 he founded Northern Geoscience (under RDC Consulting LLC) and has since carried out airborne interpretation projects across Canada, the United States and Latin America, covering uranium in the Athabasca Basin, zinc and tungsten in the Yukon, porphyry copper from British Columbia to the Andes, and epithermal gold across Nevada. Alongside interpretation work he has carried out data compilation, land package reviews, geological mapping and geochemical sampling programs.
Robert holds a B.Sc. in Geology (minor in Chemistry) from the University of Vermont, post-baccalaureate training in GIS from Penn State, and an M.Sc. in Geology, specializing in structural geology, from the Colorado School of Mines. He has authored or co-authored more than 20 works, including peer-reviewed conference abstracts for GSA, SEG, AGU and PDAC, a GSA Special Paper, technical reports, government geologic maps and his M.Sc. thesis.
What you can expect
Geology first
Interpretations are done by hand, over several iterations. Automated products like lineaments support the interpretation; they never replace it.
Honest about uncertainty
We say how confident we are, show how models were tested, and flag where more data would change the picture.
Usable deliverables
Clean GIS layers, clear figures and a report written for the people planning your next program, not just for other geophysicists.
